Two arrested with pirated CDs

Vijayawada, Sep 5 (UNI) The Anti-Goonda Squad (AGS) police today arrested two persons here and recovered 12,000 pirated CDs of newly-released films, valued at about Rs six lakh, and 500 porn CDs from them.

Talking to newspersons here, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) U V S Raju said the duo Palli Vijay Kumar hailing from the city and Kancharla Ravi of Guntur booked the CDs at Burma Bazar in Chennai and later brought to the city through private travels.

He said they wanted to sell the CDs to video shops at whole sale price, besides supplying them to Guntur, Prakasham, West Godavari and Khammam districts.

The DCP said acting on a tip-off, the duo were arrested and the investigation revealed that the offenders were earlier involved in similar cases.

Mr Raju said the CDs contained three to four newly released films like 'Shankardada Zindabad', 'Yamagola' 'Laksham', 'Allari Allari' and Tamil Super Star Rajanikant's 'Shivaji'.

Cases had been registered and investigation was underway, police added.
