The "Human Spiderman" climbs Moscow skyscraper

MOSCOW, Sep 5 (Reuters) A Frenchman dubbed the ''Human Spiderman'' for climbing some of the world's tallest buildings without safety ropes scaled an uncompleted skyscraper in Moscow.

Alain Robert says he has been arrested and fined more than 100 times for climbing skyscrapers around the world but yesterday Moscow's police released him after his climb once they had checked his identification papers were in order, news agencies reported.

Television pictures showed the longhaired Robert climbing up an exterior ladder on one corner of the 794 feet high Tower 2 of the Federation Tower while construction workers clapped and cheered his progress.

A spire on top of the as yet unfinished Tower 1 will take its height to 1,470 feet making it the tallest tower in Europe, its architects say.
