Indian paratroopers to take part in 'Indra-2007' in Russia
Moscow, Sep 5 (UNI) Paratroopers from the Indian Army's elite 50 (I) Para Brigade will join their Russian counterparts in the Indo-Russia joint anti-terrorist exercise 'Indra-2007' in Central Russia.
The joint exercise would be held at a base of the 76th Pskov Airborne Assault Division from September 11 to September 20, the head of the information and public relations department of Russia's Airborne Troops Colonel Alexander Cherednik said here.
''Units of Russian and Indian airborne troops and air forces will take part in the manoeuvres,'' he said,adding that the exercise's plan envisaged a four-day period of adaptation and preparations.
''Deputy Airborne Troops Commander, Hero of Russia Lieutenant -General Nikolai Ignatov will command the anti-terrorist exercise's active phase on September 16-18,'' Col Cherednik added.
Indian Army Chief and Chairman of the Chiefs of Staff Committee General J J Singh will lead a tri-services delegation to Russia to witness the anti-terror exercise.
General Singh is also expected to hold talks with his Russian counterparts ahead of Defence Minister A K Antony's visit here next month.
