Signs of Iraq political reconciliation: Bush
Sydney, Sept 5: US President George W Bush today said he saw signs that Iraq was taking steps on political reconciliation, despite some pessimistic assessments about progress on bringing together the country's warring factions.
He also said it was important to "hang in there" and support the country's efforts to build democracy.
"Reconciliation is taking place and it's important, in my judgment, for the security of America and for the security of Australia that we hang in there with the Iraqis and help them," Bush told a joint a news conference with Australian Prime Minister John Howard ahead of an Asia-Pacific summit.
