Kathmandu, Sep 4 (UNI) A cabinet meeting held at Nepal Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala's official residence at Baluwatar said the government was firm about holding polls in November.

"The government is committed to improve the law and order situation to hold the Constituent Assembly (CA) polls in the stipulated time in free, fair and fearless environment," the statement said.

The polls will be taken very seriously as this will decide the future of monarchy, which has ruled for nearly 240 years shrouding the nation in darkness.

The government also condemned the Sunday blasts and said they were "heinous, cowardice, inhumane, criminal and terrorist act".

"The government has taken the explosions seriously and as a conspiracy to disrupt the Constituent Assembly polls to be held on November 22," said Minister for Information and Communications after the cabinet meeting.

The government was committed to take stern action against those, whoever they may be, to bring them under the ambit of law, he said.

It also instructed all the concerned security agencies to remain alert to prevent such incidents from recurring.

"Nepali people will never accept any kind of criminal and destructive attempts which intends to disrupt the polls," the statement issued after the cabinet meeting said. The government has also appealed to the people to be united.

Two people died and more than two dozen were injured in three separate blasts at Sundhara, Tripureshwor and Balaju on Sunday.
