Kathmandu, Sep 4 (UNI) More than six people have been arrested in connection with the blasts on Sunday that killed two persons and injured over two dozen, media reports said.

''Some people have been detained. We are looking into their background and movements," Kantipur quoted Upendra Kanta Aryal, head of the Metropolitan Police Crime Investigation Department as saying.

The police have raided dozens of guest houses, lodges, hotels, houses and other suspicious places since Sunday evening, it said.

''Security has been beefed up in the capital in the wake of the serial blasts,'' he said.

''Uniformed and plainclothes policemen, and other security personnel have been extensively deployed to avert such incidents. We have also mobilised our mechanisms in a special manner,'' said Aryal.

Security has also been enhanced up along the Mahendra and other busy highways.

Bombs exploded in Balaju, Tripureshwor and Sundhara areas of Nepal's capital Kathmandu during the busy hours on Sunday.

UN Human Rights Commission, Government of Nepal, human rights organisations and political parties have condemned the blasts.

An unknown group called Terai Army has taken responsibility for the blasts, however the government said that the blasts was a plot to disrupt Constituent Assembly polls scheduled to be held on November 22 that will decide the future of Nepal's monarchy which has been defamed and suspended.
