Hyd twin blasts : One suspect held in AP district

Hyderabad, Sep 4 (UNI) A special police sqquad today arrested one person, suspected to have links with international terrorist organisations and helped the terrorists, who triggered blasts here on August 25, at Jagityal in Karimnagar district.

Police said based on the information of Central Intelligence Agencies, Karimnagar district police have arrested Riyaz Khan, a businessman and was interrogating him to verify his alleged links with the terrorist organisations.

The arrested person was suspected of having close links with Azam Ghori, an ISI agent, who was killed in police encounter in 2000 in the state. Riyaz Khan also worked as the member of Indian Muslim Mohammadi Mujahideen (IMMM), established by Azam Ghori to carry out terrorist activities in India.

More than 40 people were killed in the bomb blasts triggered by the terrorists at Lumbini park and Gokul chat at busy Koti area on August 25.

Meanwhile, State Bank of India and bus station in Karimnagar town received bomb scare, which turned out to be a hoax after thorough checks conducted by the bomb and dog squads.
