Abducted veterinarian released

Morena, MP, Sep 4 (UNI) A veterinary doctor, who was abducted on the night of September 2 from Rithori area in this district, was released and two people arrested in this connection, police said today.

Additional Superintendent of Police R P Singh said Dr Siyaram Kaurav was returning home at Mitawali village after closing his clinic at Barhet in Bhind district on Sunday night when three accused -- Devandra, Lokendra and Satyaveer -- attacked him with a stick.

Dr Kaurav fell on the spot and was abducted by the accused on a two-wheeler. His motorcycle, medicines and slippers were left behind.

The veterinarian was held captive at Jagdish Gurjar's house in Morena. He was later shifted to Dhaulpur in Rajasthan. In the meantime, he was beaten by the accused.

A ransom of Rs five lakh was demanded from Dr Kaurav's relatives for his release.

The accused were sitting on a bridge near Dhaulpur after providing the veterinarian dinner at a 'dhaba (roadside restaurant)' last night when a police patrol team passed by.

On seeing police vehicle, the accused fled away. On the basis of information provided by Dr Kaurav, Dhaulpur police contacted Morena police.

On the basis of the veterinarian's statement, Jagdish and Satyaveer were arrested. A 515-bore rifle was seized from them.

Police were searching the vehicle used for abduction.

The veterinarian told police that the accused had snatched Rs 8,000 from him.
