Punjab constitutes sub-committee for Guru Gobind Singh Marg

Chandigarh, Sept 3 (UNI) The Punjab Government has constituted a sub-committee consisting of eminent Sikh historians, academicians, religious personalities and civil engineers to draw up the tentative roadmap of Guru Gobind Singh Marg proposed to be constructed from Sri Anandpur Sahib and Talwandi Sabo in Bathinda district.

This highway is proposed to be extended to Nanded in Maharashtra and consultations in this regard have taken place between Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and his counterparts of the state through which the Marg would pass. Anandpur Sahib, associated with Guru Gobind Singh, is the birth place of the 'Khalsa', and Nanded is where the Guru breathed his last.

Mr Badal is actively taking up the completion of the Marg before the tercentenary celebration of Guru-ki-Gaddi Diwas to be celebrated at Nanded from October 6, 2008 onwards.

Presiding over a meeting here , PWD (B&R) Minister Parminder Singh Dhindsa said that the sub-committee should personally travel on proposed Guru Gobind Singh Marg and finalise the tentative roadmap keeping in view the historical importance of the route and also taking into consideration the sentiments of Sikh Sangat.

The suggested road map put up by the sub-committee would be submitted to Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee and once approved by SGPC, the PWD department would submit the roadmap to the Chief Minister.
