Nawanshahar distt to be name after Shaheed Bhagat Singh

Amritsar, Sep 3 (UNI) The Punjab government has proposed to change the name of Nawanshahar district to Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, in memory of the great martyr.

A proposal in this context has been sent by the state government to the central government, Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal disclosed here today.

Khatkar Kalan, the native village of Shaheed Bhagat Singh falls in this district.

The state government is celebrating the birth centenary of Shaheed Bhagat Singh on September 28 at Amritsar. The President and Prime Minister are expected to attend this function.
