Ranchi, Sep 3 (UNI) Expressing concern over malnutrition among children and increase in Infant Moratality Rate(IMR) in Jharkhand, Human Resources Development Minister Bandhu Tirkey today sought awareness among the people about government efforts in this direction.

Addressing a state level workshop here, Mr Tirkey said about 59 per cent of children below three years were facing malnutrition and the data among adults was above 50 per cent.

Mr Tirkey said infant death rate had also increased and now stood at 69 per 1000.

The HRD minister said these indicators were not favourable for the state and the people should take benefit from the efforts of government and various organisations like WHO and IFO which were working on such issues.
