INTEL to provide internet based content for 1800 HS Schools
Chennai, Sept 3 (UNI) A high level delegation from Chip manufacturing major Intel today called on Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi and discussed with him the initiatives which it proposes for the state.
The meeting was held at Mr Karunanidhi's Gopalapuram residence.
Dr Craig Barrett Chairman, Board of Intel, who led the delegation later told mediapersons that Intel would assist the government to providing internet based content in about 1800 higher secondary schools for learning and teacher training.
Besides, donating 500 personal computers for government schools, Intel would also help the state to achieve leadership position in broadband connectivity, by assisting in wimax connectivity for 50 schools in towns, with wimax base station infrastructure.
''Subsequently, Intel will contribute towards network consulting for network build out and rolling out these services through the carrier'', he said.
Intel had invested in a telehealth center project for affordability and accessibility of cardiac and opthalmic care in Villuppuram district, for the benefit of over 285,000 people.
