Hyd blasts: 2 suspects held, RDX seized
Hyderabad, Sep 3: The Special Investigation Team (SIT), probing the August 25 twin blasts which claimed 44 lives, has arrested two suspects and seized RDX.
Sources said acting on a tip-off, the SIT police arrested Imran Khan and Kaleem, whose names figured in the FIR filed against 15 people on September 1, on a charge of plotting the twin blasts.
The RDX was seized from Imran Khan, who was arrested from his house at Bionapalli area here.
Police suspect that Imran Khan had been providing shelter to one Sameer, alias Nayeem, and Shoaib Jagirdar for the past one year.
Both Sameer and Shoaib were arrested in Maharashtra in connection with a fake passport case and the Mecca Masjid blast case.
Both the arrested had hideouts in Hyderabad to prepare powerful bombs and provide shelter to the plotters. More than 10 kg RDX was sent to Hyderabad from Bangladesh in February 2007 to trigger blasts in this state capital. HUJI leader Shahed alias Bilal had masterminded the May 18 Mecca Masjid blasts and the Lumbini- Gokul Chat twin explosions.
The special police has intensified investigation to recover the remaining RDX stored in the city and meant to trigger blasts during 'Ganesh Chaturthi' celebrations.
Both the arrested would undergo narco analysis tests to elicit more information on their role in the blasts. They would be taken to Bangalore for the tests.
However, the police officials refused to divulge any information in connection with the twin blasts and the progress in their investigation.
