Gates with Bush in western Iraq-spokesman

AL ASAD AIR BASE, Iraq, Sep 3 (Reuters) US Defense Secretary Robert Gates flew into western Iraq today to be with President George W Bush on an unannounced visit, a Pentagon spokesman said.

Bush and Gates were expected to meet their top military commanders in Iraq, Pentagon spokesman Geoff Morrell said.
