CYF flays Nagaland govt for Jalukie violence

Kohima, Sep 3: The Chakhesang Youth Front(CYF) lambasted the Nagaland government for its 'lackadaisical approach' to the August 28 arson and eviction drive by NSCN-IM cadres at Jalukie-Zangdi village under Peren district.

In a press release issued here today, CYF President Mudovoyo Vero stated, ''The state government did not take adequate measures to protect the innocent citizens. Even after the arson incident, the silence of the government indicates the abdication of responsibilities.'' CYF General Secretary Deo Movi urged the government to treat the matter with utmost seriousness, deliver justice and reinstate rule of law in the area.

Stating that the incident was a threat to the peaceful existence of the people, the CYF alleged that the NSCN-IM tried to grab the lands and undermine the Nagas' birthright.
