Woman dies under mysterious circumstances

Jaunpur, Sep 2 (UNI) A woman, who had received severe burns, succumbed here under mysterious circumstances, police said today.

According to the statement given by the victim Haseena Begum (40) yesterday, she was allegedly set on fire by Mansoor Ali and his accomplices after police favoured them when they encroaching upon a house.

However, police claimed she had attempted to immolate herself.

The incident occurred at Ramgarh, where an old dispute between Haseena Begum and Masoor Ali for regarding encroachment of the house snowballed, into a major confrontation.

Police had been deployed in the area to maintain peace.

Station in charge Veerendra Kumar had been suspended and a probe into the matter ordered by district magistrate Aparna U.
