Salary non-payment leads to SRTC driver's death

Jammu, Sep 2 (UNI) A driver of Jammu and Kashmir State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC) died of acute depression due to non-payment of salary by the firm for the last three months his relatives alleged here today.

The relatives of the deceased Anil Kumar, who died of cardiac arrest at his residence in Old Rehari area early this morning, staged a demonstration by placing his body on the road.

The SRTC employee, is survived by his wife, two daughters and a son.

''Anil Kumar had undergone acute stress as he was unable to manage funds to earn bread for his family. His daughter also needed fees for her college admission,'' a relative said.

The demonstrators, who raised anti-government slogans and blocked the road, demanded immediate relief for the family of the deceased.

The vehicular traffic, which remained disrupted for over one hour in Rehari, was cleared after the police intervention.

UNI
