Puducherry, Sep 2 (UNI) PMK Parliamentary Party Leader M Ramadass today urged the Puducherry administration to take immediate steps to construct 910 houses sanctioned for the year by the Centre under the 'Indira Housing' scheme by including it under the 'Kamaraj Housing' scheme being implemented by the state government.

In a statement here, Ramadass said the amount of Rs.2.2 crore could be utilised only if the houses were constructed by including it under the state operated scheme, the administration would avail only Rs 75 lakh to construct 300 houses this year.

Prof Ramadass said the Centre had already stopped the allocation of funds to the tune of Rs 2.66 crore for 2007-08 for the implementation of centrally sponsored schemes through the DRDA and agreed to release it immediately following a talk he had with Rural Development Minister Dr Raghuvansingh Prasad on August 30.

The DRDA would get the first instalment of Rs 1.7 crore in the next fortnight, he added.
