MP's industrial region included in DMIC project

New Delhi, Sep 2 (UNI) The Centre has approved inclusion of Madhya Pradesh's Pitampura-Dhar-Mhow industrial region in the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) project, in a move that would give an impetus to the state's industrial pace and make it an important stakeholder in the 100-billion-dollar venture.

The decision to accord approval to the project was conveyed by Commerce and Industry Minister Kamal Nath to Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan today.

In his communication to Mr Chouhan, Mr Nath expressed confidence that with this approval, Madhya Pradesh would join other frontline states in developing state of the art industrial infrastructure and investment environment.

Official sources said the inclusion of Pitampura-Dhar-Mhow region in the DMIC project followed the relentless efforts made by the Commerce Minister during past several months to ensure that Madhya Pradesh becomes a favourite investment destination of scores of Japanese and other international infrastructure firms scouting for quality investment opportunities.

The sources said the minister pursued the the matter with several coordinating ministries that would turn Madhya Pradesh into an important stakeholder in the project.

Mr Nath also informed that the investment regions of Pitampura-Dhar-Mhow and the industrial area of Neemuch-Nayagaon would have requisite industrial infrastructure like industrial estates, knowledge hubs, agro-processing hub, IT/ITES hubs and logistic parks.

In addition, these areas will also have adequate physical infrastructure, including feeder roads, railway lines, ports, airport and power.

The project will alsom leverage the rail connectivity offered by the proposed Delhi-Mumbai Dedicated Rail Freight Corridor and the road connectivity of the Golden Quadrilateral being developed under the National Highways Development Programme (NHDP).

The minister also hopes that on completion of the project, youths in all the states, including Madhya Pradesh, would have the benefit of jump in doubling the employment potential, tripling industrial output and quadrupling exports in five years.
