Mid-term polls certain if Left opposition is sincere: Uma

Bhopal, Sep 2 (UNI) Bharatiya Jan Shakti President Uma Bharti today asserted that mid-term elections would be a certainty if the UPA government faced true opposition by Left parties over the Indo-US nuclear deal.

Ms Bharti, while addressing a 'Meet the Press' programme here, alleged that opposition by Left parties, which were extending outside support to the UPA Government, was eyewash.

''The Left parties must withdraw support from the Centre if they truly oppose the deal. Under such circumstances, mid-term polls are certain,'' she said, and added that by doing so, the Left would absolve itself from the allegations of treachery levelled against it during the freedom movement.

''No party would receive a clear majority if mid-term polls are called. The country would have to bear the burden of mid-term polls again in the next two-three years,'' she said.

The BJS leader claimed that a stable government would come to the Centre only after the next mid-term polls.
