Acting on a tip-off that LeT 'area commander' Rohan Din Alias Adu Darda had taken refuge at Nakka Pathri in Gulabgarh, Mahore, a joint team of 59 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and police cordoned the area and gunned down the militant after a fierce gun-battle yesterday, defence spokesman Lt Col S D Goswami said.
Security forces also recovered an AK-47 rifle, four magazines, 89 rounds, one I-com wireless set, a cell phone, a binocular and a dairy from the encounter site, he said.
Abu Darda, a resident of Dharamsal, Gulabgarh was active since 2000 and was involved in a number of militant activities in Gool-Gulabgarh-Mahore belt.
