The website 'wwww.ignourcsgr.net', was formally launched by IGNOU pro vice-chancellor Basir Ahmed Khan at a coordinators meet here at Womens colleage Maulana Azad Road.

Prof Khan said the educational system in the Kashmir valley would witness a dawn of new era as a full-fledged radio station was in the offing at Srinagar exclusively for education, training and development .

''We plan to link the entire IGNOU network in the valley with our Headquarters at New Delhi. Our regional centre at Srinagar is one among the first fifty high-priority institutions in the country to get connected to EDUSAT satellite,'' he added.

On the occasion, IGNOU regional director (Kashmir) Mushtaq Ahmed Darzi said Srinagar Regional Center of IGNOU was established in February 1999 with jurisdiction over Kashmir Division including Leh and Kargil.

With only eight years of its existence, IGNOU Regional Centre at Srinagar has already enrolled well over 55000 students, he added.
