Hurricane Felix upgraded to Category 2 storm

WASHINGTON, Sep 2(Reuters) Hurricane Felix, the second hurricane of the Atlantic hurricane season, was upgraded early toady to a category 2 storm with maximum sustained winds of 100 mph (160 kph), the National Hurricane Center reported.

A tropical storm warning and a hurricane watch remained in effect for the islands of Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao and a tropical storm watch remained in effect for Jamaica.

As of 2 am EST, the center of the storm was about 145 miles east of Aruba and Felix was moving to the west at about 18 mph (29 kph).
