HIV/AIDS cases on the rose in Kodagu district

Madikeri, Sep 2 (UNI) The deadly HIV/AIDS disease is spreading its wings in Kushalnagar area in Kodagu district.

Confirming this Medical Officer Dr. Shivaram Naik said 15 deaths, all HIV positives, were reported during last year. The disease he said found affected in 10 per cent of the patients who attended for HIV/AIDS check up camp recently.

Out of the 268 pregnant women who were screened, three were found affected by HIV. Out of 148 other patients who were tested, 15 cases of HIV positive were identified. The anti retroviral therapy unit of government hospital conducted the tests, he said.
