Dalit woman lynched for water, 4 held

Varanasi, Sep 2 (UNI) In a shocking incident, an elderly Dalit woman was allegedly lynched by four other women of the same caste over a water dispute in Lanka area here today.

Hirawati (60) was lynched by Baby, Asha, Rukmina and Lachmina in the Dalit ghetto in Chitaipur area over a petty dispute pertaining to carrying water from a hand pump in the same locality, police said.

The accused have been arrested. Hirawati's body has been sent for post-mortem.
