Boat carrying 70 migrants capsizes off Spain coast
MADRID, Sep 2 (Reuters) A fishing boat carrying around 70 African immigrants headed for Spain's Canary Islands has capsized in transit from Mauritania, Spanish state radio said today.
A French journalist travelling with the boat used a satellite phone to contact a passing Russian ship for help.
The ship has rescued an unspecified number of the migrants and is on its way to the Western Saharan port of Dakhla, state radio said.
Spanish Marine Rescue or Canary Islands emergency services officials were not able to confirm the report.
