Badal lays stress on improving road and rail connextivity

Ludhiana, Sep 2 (UNI) Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today said that his government was all set to create infrastructure of international standard by providing excellent road and rail connectivity to put the state on the high growth trajectory.

Presiding over a function after inaugurating a Railway Over Bridge (ROB), built at a cost of Rs 18 crore, on Dhandari railway crossing, Mr Badal said that the government has taken up a proposal with Ministry of Railways to connect Delhi with Amritsar through an elevated rail track. Super speed trains would ply on this track to complete the journey from Delhi to Ludhiana within just two hours.

He said the state government had already got approved anumber of road projects, including six laning of NH-1 from New Delhi to Jalandhar and four laning from Jalandhar to Wagah border via Amritsar. The government had envisaged a massive program to decongest the slum areas in and around Ludhiana and Amritsar cities at a cost of Rs 240 crore and Rs 160 respectively, he added.

Mr Badal noted that the state government had geared up its activities to accomplish the prestigious project of Rs 2150 crore for the industrial city under JNURM.

Speaking on the occasion, Local Bodies Minister Manoranjan Kalia said that the state government had prepared a blue print for integrated development of all cities and towns in the state.
