Tiruchirapalli, Sep 1 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Milk Producers Welfare Association and the Tamil Nadu Milk Producers Cooperative Society Employees Welfare Association today appealed to the State Government to increase the procurement price per litre of cow milk from Rs 12 to 16 and for buffalo milk from Rs 12 to 22, taking into consideration the price hike of cattle feed.

The Association, in a statement here, said a resolution to this effect was adopted at the joint meeting held here.

The meeting expressed concern over the attitude of Aavin authorities and claimed that over 4,000 milk producers cooperatives were in the red due to their ''carelessness''. Due to the ''abnormal conditions'' stipulated by Aavin and its ''lethargic'' attitude, delivery of milk to Aavin had reduced and resulted in severe shortage of milk, it claimed.
