Man throws acid on wife, sets house on fire

Kolkata, Sep 1 (UNI) A chicken-trader allegedly splashed acid on his wife and set his house afire at Deshapriyanagar in Belgharia near here, official sources said today.

The victim, who sustained 70 per cent burns during the incident which occurred yesterday, was admitted to a hospital, the sources added.

Her sons alleged that their father threw acid on her when she did not allow him to enter the house because he was drunk.

They also alleged that their father set the house afire and fled when they were taking their mother to the hospital.

However, police said they had not taken any action against the absconding culprit as no one had lodged any complaint against him.
