LIC South Zone grows remarkably: Manager
Chennai, Sept 1 (UNI) The Life Insurance Corporation of India, South Zone (Kerala and Tamil Nadu) has many first to its credit despite its comparatively smaller geographic area, says Zonal Manager B Manivannan.
Listing out the achievements of the Zone, during the 'Insurance Week' celebrations as part of the Company's 51 years of service from today to September 15, he said while Vellore, a rural division, had topped the number of policies, during April one 2007 to August 15, at the national level, Ernakulam Division ranked first in First Premium Income with Rs 497.65 crore.
The zone had completed 22, 17, 780 policies with First Premium of Rs 3,121.38 crore registering a growth of 144.77 per cent.
To provide anytine anywhere service to customers, the LIC had launched Enterprise Document Management System (EDMS) in Chennai and Madurai through which premium could be paid at any service point.
He said plots had been identified in various places for opening Satelite Sampark offices on the lines of one at Malappuram in Kerala.
About the erosion of prospective customers to private insurance players like Metlife, Mr Manivannan said the LIC would take initiatives to woe the youth, especially the techies, with various IT initiatives, to maintain customer base.
As regards the Micro Insurance, a dream of former President A P J Abdul Kalam he said the Zone was second with 23,256 insurances. As many as 357 NGOs were registered for selling Micro Insurance known as 'Jeevan Madhur'.
