Itanagar, Sep 1 (UNI) Outgoing Arunachal Pradesh Governor S K Singh has accused the state political leadership of propagating separatism in the name of creating Autonomous District Councils (ADCs).

Addressing students of the Jawaharlal Nehru College at Pasighat in East Siang district yesterday before leaving for Rajasthan, Mr Singh said, ''It is the politicians who are sabotaging the larger unity of Arunachal, an indivisible part of India's magnificent North East. They must realise that the state cannot exist as a separate entity.'' Terming the ADC's demands as 'foolish', he called upon the students to contribute to the nation's development and become members of the global community.

The governor also exhorted them not to tread the separatist path and urged them to realise their greater responsibility towards nation-building.

''The next 50 years would be important for Arunachal in all spheres and the people must help the state achieve its desired status with its abundant natural resources,'' Mr Singh said.

While appreciating the classless Arunachalee multi-lingual society, he, however, advocated all out efforts to save the tribal languages.

''Good times are waiting in the wings for Arunachal once its vast tourism and power potentials are tapped. Power could enrich the state coffer and transform the scenario,'' he said while cautioning the people to be on their guard against the anti-development lobby in the state.
