Guru Satam's associate killed in an encounter
Mumbai, Sep 1 (UNI) A close associate of gangster Guru Satam was killed in a police encounter last night near Bhandup water reservoir off Eastern Express Highway here.
Police had received an inception that the deceased, Sandeep Sahadev Jaitapkar (35) will come at the Bhandup water reservoir with the intention of planning a criminal activity in the area.
Vikroli police sleuths laid a trap at the spot. As Jaitapkar came to the reservoir, the watch-dog police team asked him to surrender.
Instead of surrendering, Jaitapkar shot two rounds of fire towards the police team from a China-made pistol. In retaliation from the side of police, he suffered head and chest injuries.
Injured Jaitapkar was rushed to the Rajawadi hospital, where the doctors declared him dead before admission.
Police recovered the pistol, two live cartridges and two empty cartridges from the spot.
More than seven cases of extortion, murder and attempt to murder were registered against Jaitapkar in various police stations of the city.
