Former PWD Minister violates norms: Issac

Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 1 (UNI) Kerala Finance Minister Thomas Issac today alleged that former Public Works Department Minister M K Muneer had awarded several contracts without floating tenders in violation of rules of business procedures.

Talking to newspersons here, he said the Comptroller and Auditor General had found several irregularities in the awarding of contracts during his tenure.

Dr Issac said during 2005-06, about 5,025 works, worth Rs 291 crore had been awarded without floating tenders.

Meanwhile, Mr Muneer told newspersons at Kozhikode that he was prepared to face any inquiry over the matter.

Terming the allegations against him ''baseless'', he said he had followed a system which was practiced by his predecessors.
