Das to draw EC's notice on discrepancies in electoral roll
Jamshedpur, Sep 1 (UNI) Former Jharkhand minister Raghubar Das today alleged that the just concluded Jamshedpur Lok Sabha bypoll was marred by unprecedented discrepancies in Electoral roll and demanded the EC to initiate immediate action to streamline the process.
Talking to newsmen here, Mr Das said he would write to the EC intimating him about the largescale anomalies in the voters' list of this constituency which deprived thousands of bonafide voters from exercising their democratic rights.
He said in many cases the voters had their photo identity cards but names were missing in the list, while in some cases names were found but wrong names were printed on photo ID cards.
Mr Das, the BJP MLA from Jamshedpur East, said despite EC's postponement of the election for two months due to anomalies in the Electoral rolls, the situation remained the same. He said the EC should give a serious look into the matter to correct the system.
Mr Das said he talked to state Election Officer Debashish Gupta about the discripancies in the electoral rolls for which the voters suffered extensively and urged him to place the matter to higher authority.
To a question Mr Das claimed that BJP candidate Dinesh Sarangi would win the seat against JMM candidate Suman Mahto.
