New Delhi, Sep 1 (UNI) Sensing cracks in the ruling UPA which may force a mid-term election on the country, the BJP today decided to launch a nationwide campaign against the 'divisive and appeasement policies' of the Manmohan Singh led coalition.

A decision to this effect was taken by office bearers meeting of the BJP chaired by party president Rajnath Singh, where the party chose to appoint a committee headed by former party president M Venkaiah Naidu to work out the details of the campaign.

The details would be placed before the party's National Executive at Bhopal scheduled to be held in the third week of this month, BJP spokesman Prakash Javadekar told newspersons after the meeting.

He said both Mr Singh and Leader of Opposition L K Advani, who addressed the office bearers meeting, highlighted how the ruling party was bending backwards for securing their minority votes even at the cost of hurting natural justice and national security.

Many of its actions, ranging from the UPA's orchestrated campaign to release Coimbatore bomb blast suspect Madhani and delay in executing condemned prisoner Mohammad Afzal, were all aimed at consolidating its slipping base -- the minorities votes, he maintained.

The governmental actions have only emboldened the terrorist elements while depressing the mindset of security forces who were fighting for the country's cause, he added.

He said the BJP was not against rendering help to the poor and backward classes but religion can't be the basis for dispensing social justice.

Those who attended the three-hour-long meeting besides Mr Singh and Mr Advani were Mr Venkaiah Naidu, Ananth Kumar, Prakash Javadekar, Vijay Goyal and Thawar Singh Gehlot.
