AP Govt's fixation over Nehru-Gandhi clan's names

Hyderabad, Sep 1 (UNI) 'Intintinki Indiramma', the second phase of INDIRAMMA scheme launched by Congress President and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi today in Guntur district, is yet another welfare programme named after the late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi by the Rajasekhara Reddy Government in Andhra Pradesh, which is committed to usher in ''Indiramma raj'' in the State.

Later, Ms Gandhi also launched the 'Urban Indira Kranthi Patham' to empower urban women by providing bank linkages for starting their own ventures.

Earlier in the day, Ms Gandhi inaugurated a housing scheme in Rajahmundry, named after her late husband.

The schemes named after former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi included Rajiv Palle Bhata (the Chief Minister's visits to villages), Rajiv Nagara Bhata (the Chief Minister's visits to cities and towns), Rajiv Yuva Shakti (self-employment scheme for youth) and Rajiv Internet Village (internet kiosks in villages).

Rajiv Sagar (Dummagudem irrigation project), Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (new International Airport), Rajiv Ethipothala Pathakam (Bhima Lift Irrigation Project) and Rajiv Housing Board colony in Kukatpalli were the other projects launched to cherish the memory of the former Prime Minister.

Other schemes and projects launched in the State in the name of late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi by the Congress Government included 'Indira Prabha', a land development programme for Dalits and 'Indira Sagar' (Polavaram irrigation project).

Jawahar Knowledge Centres were launched by the Congress Government to train engineering and other students for better job opportunities in industries. The State Government had named a pharma park in Visakhapatnam after the country's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru.
