Andaman Administrator assures all help for Bharat Nirman Campaign

Port Blair, Sep 1 (UNI) Lt Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands Bhopinder Singh today assured all support to the forthcoming Bharat Nirman Public Information Campaign, to be held at remote Rangat Tehsil of Middle Andaman Region.

Mr Singh was talking to the heads of Central Government media and the IP Division of the UT administration, who called on him to discuss the organization of Bharat Nirman Public Information Campaign, scheduled to be held in the first week of November.

Appreciating the initiative taken by the Central Government Media to generate awareness about various people-friendly policies of the UPA Government and also to showcase achievements through such PICs, the Lt Governor advised the media heads to organize a similar Public Information Campaign at Car Nicobar in the larger interest of the tribal brethren.

Mr Singh also advised the Government media, especially AIR and Doordarshan, to project all areas of the archipelago in their news and other programmes.

He asked them to do their utmost to bridge the psychological gap between the mainland and islands.

He said he had already written a letter to the Union Information and Broadcasting Minister urging him to replace the slogan being used by the official media. Not 'From Kashmir to Kanya Kumari' but 'Kashmir To Indira Point' would not only be geographically correct but also enlighten the countrymen, he stated.

The campaign would be handled by Press Information Bureau of Port Blair in Andamans, with the help of other Central government organizations.

Wimberleygunj village in South Andaman was one of the 100 blocks in the country, where Bharat Nirman PICs were successfully organized last year, Assistant Information Officer of PIB, Port Blair O N Jaiswal told UNI today.

This year one hundred more PICs are being organized across the length and breadth of the country, including one at Rangat.
