45 container flat wagons flagged off by BHEL
Tiruchirapalli, Sep 1 (UNI) The 45 container flat wagons meant for Container Corporation of India (CONCOR) manufactured at Golden Rock Railway Workshop were flagged off by V Thiyagarajan, General Manager, Welding Research Institute, BHEL here today.
Speaking on the occasion, its Chief Works Manager S Rangarajan said during 2002-03, Golden Rock supplied 320 wagons to the CONCOR, worth Rs 42 crore. Satisfied with this, the CONCOR had awarded the manufacturing 2,585 wagons at a cost of Rs 568 crore.
He said the workshop was gearing up for production of 1,000 wagons per year considering huge demand by the CONCOR. The manufacturing of containers for CONCOR commenced in July 2004 and they manufactured 1,710 wagons till yesterday, he added.
