Naga: 1 killed, 2 injured in wall collapse

Kohima, Sep 1: At least one person was died and his wife and son injured when a concrete wall collapsed on their thatched house, triggered by heavy rainfall, at the Natun Basti area of Dimapur town.

Official sources said here today that one Moin Uddin (32) died yesterday on the spot while his wife and son were rushed to the Dimapur Civil Hospital where their condition was stated to be critical.

Meanwhile, heavy downpour at Dimapur town inundated many houses and forced hundreds of families to take shelter in higher places.

The busy commercial area, G S Road, was submerged by rain water.

The Dimapur District Youth Congress, led by former chief minister K L Chishi, former minister S I Jamir, Nagaland Youth Congress general secretary S Kughato Aye and several other Congress leaders, visited the affected areas and distributed relief material to the flood victims.

Local legislator Atomi Zhimomi, accompanied by Dimapur Municipal Council member K Khekaho Assumi also visited the affected areas and assured adequate assistance.

The Dimapur district administration would review the flood situation and make necessary arrangements for the flood victims, official sources added.
