India provides Rs 1.23 cr for school in Nepal

Kathmandu, Aug 31 (UNI) India has provided Rs 1.23 crore for the construction of new classrooms and laboratory building for a school in western Nepal.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed yesterday by the Embassy of India with the District Development Committee and Shree Durga Secondary School of Kailali in western Nepal for providing grant assistance for construction of new classroom building, laboratory building and provision of furniture for the school.

According to a press statement of the Indian embassy the school is presently running classes from a small building for more than 800 students, of which more than half are girls.

The new infrastructure being constructed with the assistance of the government of India will provide the school with the much needed space for its growing number of students and help the school in upgrading itself to 10+2 level, said the press statement.
