AP to receive rains as low pressure is likely
Hyderabad, Aug 31 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh is likely to receive widespread rains in the next 48 hours under the influence of an upper air cyclonic circulation in the Bay of Bengal.
Under its influence, now lying over west-central Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal areas of the state, a low pressure area is likely to form around September two, Indian Meteorological Department said today.
''The current meteorological analysis suggests fairly widespread rainfall with isolated heavy falls over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Rayalaseema in the next 48 hours'', it said.
Southwest monsoon was active over Telangana and Rayalaseema in the last 24 hours. Rain occured at a few places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh also.
Kunavaram recorded a very heavy rainfall of 11 cm followed by Polavaram and Tenali nine cm each, Tirupati Airport, Mangalagiri, and Prathipadu eight cm each, Guntur, Vijayawada Airport, Koida and Tada six cm each and Atchampet, Sattenapalli, Palakonda, Veeraghattam and Parvathipuram five cm each.
