UPA-Left to constitute panel on nuclear deal
New Delhi, Aug 30: The UPA Government and the Left parties today decided to constitute a committee to go into the objections raised by the Left parties on the Indo-US nuclear deal.
A decision to this effect was taken at a 45-minute meeting at the residence of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. Besides the Prime Minister, the meeting was attended by Congress President Sonia Gandhi and senior Left leaders.
It was decided that the deal would be operationalised only after taking into account the findings of the committee.
The composition of the committee would be announced shortly, a statement issued at the end of the meeting said.
