Turbulence injures 16 on flight to Hong Kong

HONG KONG, Aug 30 (Reuters) Sixteen passengers on an Air Mauritius flight to Hong Kong were taken to hospital today after being injured by turbulence, Hong Kong media reported.

''The plane had a safe landing, all we know is that it encountered some turbulence,'' Chris Lam, a spokesperson for Hong Kong's Airport Authority, said.

The plane landed just after midday. It was not immediately clear what kind of aircraft was involved.

Hong Kong's Cable TV reported 16 passengers had been taken to hospital. It showed two men being wheeled into a Hong Kong hospital on stretchers, including one man who was wearing a neck and head brace.
