Md Shahabuddin convicted in attempt to murder case

Siwan, Aug 30 (UNI) A special sessions court here today found incarcerated RJD MP Md Shahabuddin guilty in connection with an attempt to murder case of then Superintendent of police, Siwan S K Singhal.

Additional district and session judge Gyaneshwar Srivastav found Mohammad Shahabuddin guilty under various sections of IPC for attempting on the life of Mr Singhal when he was district police superintendent of Siwan in 1996. The court, however, would pronounce the of punishment tomorrow.

According to the FIR, Mohammad Shahabuddin instigated his supporters to open fire on the cavalcade of Mr Singhal in 1996 near Down Bazar under Karauli police station area in Siwan, while he was chasing the RJD MP.

Mr Singhal had escaped narrowly.

UNI
