Iran nuclear work moving slowly: IAEA
Vienna, Aug 30: Iran's uranium enrichment programme is operating well below capacity and is far short of producing nuclear fuel in significant amounts, according to a confidential UN nuclear watchdog report obtained by Reuters.
Officials familiar with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) report also said the IAEA could open future inquiries into Iranian atomic activity if new suspicions arose, even after Tehran answers current questions about the disputed programme under a new transparency deal struck with the agency.
The report countered impressions gleaned by Western diplomats from the Aug. 21 pact that Iran had negotiated immunity to further IAEA investigations after existing issues were resolved, which officials hoped would happen by year-end.
