Computer memory chips recovered from air passenger
Chennai, Aug 30 (UNI) Immigration authorities at Anna International Airport here arrested a passenger on the charges of carrying 250 computer memory chips in a laptop today.
Airport officials said Kaliyamurthi Gopi (28), hailing from Nagapattinam district, arrived here from Colombo when he was intercepted at the immigration clearance counter.
On inspection, he was found carrying 250 computer memory cards worth Rs 13 lakhs in his laptop and in a liquor bottle. Later, he was handed over to the airport police.
In another incident, immigration authorites seized 319 computer memory cards, worth Rs 17 lakhs, in a cargo parcel from a Singapore- bound flight.
Officials, however, said the address mentioned in the consignment was not genuine.
