Imphal, Aug 29:The Zeliangrong Students' Union, Manipur (ZSUM) has threatened a stir as the Manipur government allegedly failed to meet its demands.

Official sources here today said Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh and the union leaders had discussed the ZSUM demands at the chief minister's office yesterday.

However, ZSUM leaders said the meeting was unable to arrive at any decision conclusion.

The union had demanded the handover of construction of Tousem-Haflong Road, New Keiphundai-Tousem Road, Imphal-Tamenglong Road and Tamei to the BRO or BRTF.

However, the chief minister wanted the state PWD to do the works as the BRO was facing shortage of manpower.

ZSUM secretary Majabung Gangmei said it would picket government offices if their demands were not met.

The union had forced the government offices at Tamenglong district to close from August 13 onward and indefinite bandh had been called on National Highway 53 from August 20 onward.

However, the highway blockade was suspended for some time as talks were going on since the past few days at several levels, ZSUM sources said.
