Undertrials found in possession of bombs

Barrackpore, Aug 29 (UNI) While a red alert swept over the state for averting any untoward incident, accused persons being brought from Central Correctional Centre in Dum Dum to Barrackpore court in North 24 Parganas were found in possession of live bombs.

A pair of live bombs were also found from the court lock up, court sources said here.

The sources said a constable guarding the gate of court lock up had checked the polythene bag carried by Ataur Rahman, a prisoner brought from Central Correctional Centre to be produced before the court, and recovered a pair of live bombs.

An alarm was, immediately, raised and policemen present there began a thorough search within the court premises. As a result, two more live bombs were recovered from the lock up. However, police had failed to identify the person who might have brought the bombs inside the premises.
