Shab-e-Barat celebrated peacefully in Malegaon

Nashik, Aug 29 (UNI) Shab-e-Barat, the festival of 'Inam' was celebrated peacefully yesterday at Malegaon.

'Shab-e-Barat is said to be the night of submitting the record of the deeds of the whole year to 'Allah'. Devotees present the report of their deeds to the God. They also pray for the forgiveness to the God.

Various religious programmes had been organised on the occasion.

On this occasion 'Khairat' was given to beggers. Prayers started since the evening.

This time the festival had a special importance as it marked the anniversary of the bomb blast in Malegaon on the last year's 'Shab-e-Barat, on September 8,2006. The blasts that had killed 81 people and injured more than 300 people.

Though the festival was celebrated with enthusiasm, fear loomed large on the celebrations and festivities as everyone had the memories of last years blasts.

The bomb blast at Hyderabad on August 25 last also had an impact on the festival.

As far as the district administration was concerned, it had made all possible security arrangements to avoid any untoward incident.

One Additional SP, 3 Dy SPs, 700 police personnel, two companies of the State Reserve Police Force (SRPF), 200 home guards, Quick Response Team (QRT) had been deployed along with the riot control vehicle 'Vajra'.

Besides, Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) team and the Bomb Detection and Destruction Squad (BDDS) was also placed in service, Prayers were continued till morning today. Along with the festival of 'Shabe-e-Barat', Raksha Bandhan was also celebrated.
