Res docs set deadline for handover of degrees

New Delhi, Aug 29: Resident doctors today gave the authorities a 1700 hrs deadline for handing over degrees to 400 scholars, failing which they would go on an indefinite strike.

''We have given the authorities a deadline till 1700 hrs for handing over the degrees. If the deadline is not met, we will proceed to an indefinite strike,''AIIMS RDA spokesperson Kumar Harsh said.

The resident doctors alleged that about 400 AIIMS scholars have not been awarded their degrees for the past two years as AIIMS president and Union Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss has yet to put his signature on them.

The resident doctors last night carried out a protest march towards Dr Ramadoss' house in Safdarjung Enclave but were stopped at Nirman Bhawan.

''Mere assurances will not do. We are demanding that the Union Minister immediately sign the degrees so that the doctors can get them,''Dr Harsh said.
